Africa Day Eight (Wednesday Dec 3)

Decided to start at Kirstenbosch today since the sun was shining on that side of the mountain again.

The waves are a little rougher today
The wind is still blowing
The sand has blown across the road

In Kirstenbosch, walking up the avenue of camphor trees

See the next photo for the tree itself

Arboretum
A Hahdidah (peacefully eating worms)
Hmmm, getting too close!

Wait! come back!
Tree Canopy Walkway also nicknamed the "Boomslang" (a type of {venomous} tree snake)

A kindergarten field trip

The peak to the right is Devil's Peak

The mama owl

Her two babies

Aren't they adorable?

My personal bath

Lion's Head and Signal Hill

The station at the top is clear but the winds are still too high for the cable car

We checked but, although they were at first hopeful, they had to keep it closed after all.

So we drove over to Signal Hill.  Thankfully you can see the fire we saw yesterday was put out!
Robbin Island in Table Bay
About to fall off the edge

This is a take-off pad for hang-gliders

For lunch, we drove out to Blouberg area for the classic Table Mountain view

We counted over 30 kite-surfers
On our way to Canal Mall
The most opulent and by far the largest mall I have EVER been to.  Over 400 shops and lots of high-end ones at that

Again today Helderberg is still clear
See the moon?
The grand turning on of the town's Christmas lights.  You see, nobody decorates their house.  The only Christmas lights are on main street of each town.
